Event Details

My latest book, The Lass from Loch Léin: Ellen Powell — an Irish Orphan in the Victorian Gold Rushes, will be launched by His Excellency the Ambassador of Ireland, Tim Mawe, and the distinguished historian Dr Richard Reid on Wednesday 23 November. The book tells the story of an intrepid 19-year-old young woman who left Killarney at the height of the Great Famine to start a new life in Australia, a life which subsequently spent on the turbulent goldfields of Victoria

As well as a book launch, it will also be a celebration of things Irish, with some musical items as well.  A complimentary drink and canapés are offered on arrival, and please think about wearing a mask. Copies of the book will be available at $25 each.
